The Itinerary
Day 01: Colombo.
Arrive and proceed to Colombo for overnight stay. Visit Kelaniya Rjamaha Viharaya the way to Colombo.
Day 02: Anuradhapura.
Check out at 6 am and proceed to Pinnawala to witness elephant baby feeding at 9.15 am. After visiting elephant bathing at 10 am you can leave for Anuradhapura. Visit Mihientale for the sunset and overnight at Anuradhapura.
Day 03: Sigiriya.
Visit Anuradhapura UNESCO world heritage site and proceed to Sigiriya or Habarana for overnight stay. Jeep safari to Minneriya / Kaudulla national parks in the evening (3 pm to 6.30 pm) Overnight at Sigiriya or Habarana. Optional Elephant back safari of one hour.
Day 04: Polonnaruwa.
Visit Polonnaruwa UNESCO world heritage site in the morning. Visit Sigiriya UNESCO world heritage site for the sunset. Optional Visit Hiriwadunna dry zone rural village for 2 hours. Visit the ruins of Pidurangale forest monastery.
Day 05: Kandy.
Check out and proceed to Kandy. Visit Dambulla caves UNESCO world heritage site and a spice garden at Matale on the way to Kandy. Kandy city tour and enjoy the cultural show in the evening. Overnight at Kandy.
Day 06: Kandy.
Visit temple of the tooth UNESCO world heritage site for morning ceremony (9.30 am to 10.30 am). After that, proceed to visit Peradeniya botanical garden. Visit the tea museum, upper lake drive, Bahiravakanda temple, Kandy Lake, market squire, and the citycentre. Overnight at Kandy.
Day 07: Nuwara Elya.
Check out and proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Visit Ramboda falls, McWoods tea plantation and the factory, on the way.
Day 08: Ella.
Check out early morning with take away breakfast and proceed to Horton Plains. After that, proceed to Ohiya railway station to catch the train to Ella. This may be the most scenic train trip of Sri Lanka. The driver will travel along with your baggage to Ella railway station and wait for you. Explore Ella and overnight at Ella.
Day 09: Yala.
Visit Little Adam’s Peak in the morning and proceed to Yala. Visit waterfalls on the way. After lunch, commence the jeep safari at Yala national park (2.30 pm to 6.30 pm) to spot leopards, sloth bears, spotted dears, wild bores, elephants, crocodiles and many more animals. Overnight at Yala or Tissamaharama.
Day 10: Mirissa.
Check out and proceed to Tangalle and visit Mulkirigala rock temple. Overnight at Mirissa.
Day 11: Departure.
Visit stilt fishermen at Polhena / Weligama on the way to Japanese temple at Unawatuna. Explore Galle Fort. Proceed to the airport for departure flight.
